2007 JOURNAL FOR S.M.P.E. SCHOLARSHIP FUND

To Our Advertisers

The print shop for our 2007 Journal has modern computer graphics capability. Best quality will be obtained by submitting your advertisements on disk in one of the preferred formats listed below, with all linked images and fonts. If you choose to send a disk, a hard copy of the ad will be required for proofing. We are sending along with this a check list and some tips on preparing files, this will help to eliminate potential problems. We can also work from clear copies or camera ready art. By all means, please submit your material promptly, well ahead of the deadline if at all possible.

SCANNING:

Transparency, reflective, color, black/white, line art, are accepted.

TIPS:

Mac & PC - Please provide both the Screen (Bitmap) and Printer (Postscript) elements of each font used. If this is not possible, convert your type to curves. In Adobe Illustrator this command is "Create Outlines" and in "CoreIDraw" it is "Convert to Curves." This is very important if you want consistency in ad.

For Mac Files only, when applying a "Style" to type, do not use the "measurement" or "control" palettes. Select the actual typestyle from the font menu. This will ensure that the font will output correctly on our imagesetters.

Make spot color names consistent and use Pantone color palette, especially if more than one application is used to create your file. (i.e., imported or placed eps files, duo tones, etc.) Output a laser copy of all color plates to verify accurate color breaks.

Black & White Tiff's must be prepared so the finished art will be a minimum of 1200 dpi at 100%.
Grayscale Tiff's or DuoTones must be prepared with a minimum of 300 dpi at 100%. Do not upsample images as this will compromise quality, rescan if necessary.

Supplied Film:

If supplying film, output film at 150 Ipi with crops and registration marks, colors should also be designated on film.
