Responsible to the First Assistant Engineer for the operation and
maintenance of the ship’s domestic and cargo refrigeration plants, in addition
to, the ship’s air conditioning and ventilation systems. Duties included charging and evacuating of
refrigeration lines, monitoring of chill water for air handlers, upkeep of
chill and freeze boxes and compressor maintenance and service.
Duties included standing watch, making log book calculations and
entries, and many maintenance and repair projects.
